7v7 and 5on5 Competitive Training Series (CURRENT 5th-8th GRADERS ONLY)

WLHS Varsity Coach Newman has invited several local high schools to assemble youth teams for the purpose of competitive development.  We will be offering 7v7 and OL/DL 5on5 for combined grades of 5th & 6th as well as 7th & 8th.

7V7

The format is designed to mimic high school 7v7 practice. Each date is scheduled as a four-hour session to insure a ton of reps.  Each team will get multiple rounds of 12-15 plays on offense and 12-15 plays defense in a round-robin style with other local teams.  Teams will be created day of and will be coached by WLHS staff running WLHS Varsity offense and defense.  This will not be a win or lose competition.  This is an opportunity for our West Linn players to compete against local youth players while learning the WLHS systems and getting real time performance correction and affirmation.   Set up will be 5/6 on one side of the field with 7/8 on the opposite side running plays from the 35-yard line to the end zones.

5on5

Competition will be run in in the center of the field at the 50-yard line.  While this will be full speed competitions there will not be team winners and losers.  5on5 is focused on OL/DL development of technique, fundamentals, and effort. WLHS Varsity OL/DL coaches with coach West Linn players.  5on5 may also feature team competitions like tug-o-war, tire flip etc. This will be date dependent.

Attire and Gear

Players that have participated in our weekly Cub Training and who have purchased a t-shirt and soft helmet through Sports Engine registration will receive their purchase prior to competition at a training session.

• Players who have not received theirs from Cub Training should purchase a t-shirt during registration for Competitive Training Series. The cost is $20.00
• Players who have not already ordered a soft helmet from Cub Training will need to purchase their own soft helmet through a local sports & athletics retailer or online.
• Players to provide their own mouth guard, cleats or turf shoes, athletic shorts.

Registration & Cost

• $25 per player per event date. For those that have already registered and paid for Cub Training on an event date, your payment will cover this event. If you have questions on which days you have already registered and paid for, please contact lisa@hedbergsonline.com.
